Jacques Petit (born 1925) is a well known French painter, draughtsman and printmaker of landscapes and urban subjects.

The present drawing measures about 17.2 x 15 inches image size and about 31 x 29.2 inches in its frame. It is signed lower left, and is in very good condition for its age save for some very slight foxing close to the lower edge of the drawing. The frame was added to the drawing about 8 to 10 years ago and is in quite good condition although it does have some chips and minor losses.

We have not examined the drawing out of its frame and do not know whether it is titled and/or dated on the reverse. However, we think it likely that the drawing dates to the 1960s and we think the subject may be along the Channel coast of France. This is a very strong, dramatic drawing and a good example of Petit's work...
