Description: Dillwyn Smith (born 1958) is a well known painter and printmaker based in London and for several years has been a visiting artist and lecturer at the National Gallery. He studied painting at Canterbury College of Art and then at the Royal College of Art, graduating in 1986. He was initially a figurative painter but by the mid 1990s had become more interested in abstraction. Dillwyn Smith has had many one man exhibitions at home and abroad. In 2007 he received the Bryan Robertson Trust Award.
The present work is an original oil painting on board, titled on the reverse of the frame 'Saurer Regen I' ('Acid Rain' in English). It is not signed recto but may be signed on the back of the board. The painting measures about 9.9 x 7.9 inches and about 15 x 13 inches in its original hand finished frame. There is a label attached from the Contemporary Art Society Market exhibition held in London in May/June 1987 from where it was acquired by the previous owner.
