John Brunsdon, RE, ARCA (born 1933) is widely acknowledged as being one of Britain's finest contemporary printmakers. His work is held in many public collections, including the Tate Gallery, Victoria & Albert Museum, and the Museum of Modern Art, New York.
We have a group of seven large early etchings by John Brunsdon, mainly abstract expressionist work from the 1960s. The work from that period is vibrant and of course it is in very limited supply today as the print runs were relatively low. All of the etchings we have on offer are unframed and all bar one are 'shrink-wrapped' and backed by board for protection.
The present work titled 'Deep in the Woods' is an original etching with aquatint which dates from 1970. The print measures about 17.7 x 23.8 inches image size, and is pencil signed, dated, titled and numbered 7 from a very small edition of 35. The presence of a large figure in this etching is most unusual for a Brunsdon print.
The etching is in good condition save for some staining to the lower right corner of the margin and a smaller stain to the right hand margin. Both are well away from the image and will not be visible once the etching is framed...
