Vintage Brutalist coffee table attributed to Dutch artist Paul Kingma, 1960's ca, Holland. This is an early version with the top made of concrete, slate and glacial stones. Texture and raw earthly materials developed over time. The rectangular top seats on a solid iron hammered frame giving an architectonic and industrial look to this unique piece.
Since the early 70's Dutch artist Paul Kingma designed furniture incorporating natural elements of the Earth in a Brutalist but beautiful way. Early works are bare and simple. In the 80's,Kingma incorporates other materials in relief like fossils, pebbles, copper and brass. Kingma once quoted "my stone tables resist the corruption of time, and support the weight of Life". A Kingma table defies age and ignores fashion.
