PIERRE PAULIN

‘One of the mythical figures of French design, Pierre Paulin became famous for designing President Georges Pompidou’s apartment in the Elysée Palace and furniture for the Louvre. Championing “integrated design,” he created a new relationship with interior architecture. His Mushroom, Tongue, Ribbon, Tulip and Orange slice chairs – all made of foam covered with coloured jersey – offer a range of shapes that are rigorous yet organic, functional yet voluptuous. Paulin’s designs perfectly symbolise the sixties and seventies and foreshadow the evolution of design. They have become cult objects embedded in our collective unconscious’ A concise reference book, well illustrated and with English text by Élisabeth Védrenne. Collectors, dealers and design historians will find the 2-page chronology and detailed notes for each illustration particularly useful. 80 pages. Hardbound.
