John Brunsdon, RE, ARCA (born 1933) is widely acknowledged as being one of Britain's finest contemporary printmakers. His work is held in many public collections, including the Tate Gallery, Victoria & Albert Museum, and the Museum of Modern Art, New York.
We have a group of six large early etchings by John Brunsdon, mainly abstract expressionist work from the 1960s. The work from that period is vibrant and of course it is in very limited supply today as the print runs were relatively low. The etchings we have on offer are mainly unframed (two are framed) and three of the unframed works are 'shrink-wrapped' and backed by board for protection.
The present work is a very early original etching with aquatint 'titled Shell Bay' which we understand dates from 1962. The print measures about 18 x 23.6 inches image size, and is pencil signed, titled and numbered 20 from a small edition of 50. The etching is in very good condition although the left and right margins may have been trimmed slightly. This is a scarce print and it is offered unframed but in a protective sleeve...
