Harold Cheeseman 1915-1982
Painter in oil and watercolour of landscapes. He was born in Rye and attended the Hastings school of art before winning a scholarship to the Royal College of Art. He graduated in 1938 and after war service went on to teach at the Farnham Art college under the directorship of James Hockey ROI.
He exhibited regularly at the RA, NEAC, and the RWS with a series of exhibitions at the Ashgate Gallery in Farnham.
The Imperial War Museum, the Towner Art Gallery and the Eastbourne Art Gallery all hold his work.
