Description: Roy Turlington was born in Sileby, Leicestershire in 1942. He began painting in 1970 and studied at Sheffield College of Art 1974-77. For a time he was artist in residence at Nottingham City Hospital. He has exhibited widely, including at the Whitworth Art Gallery in Manchester and the Graves Art Gallery in Sheffield. The artist still lives in Leicestershire.
The paintings are gouache on paper. Both are signed and titled by the artist as listed above. The images measure about 19.5 x 24.5 inches sight size, and they are in good condition save for some discolouration to the paper at the extreme right hand margin. The frames are in fair condition for their age, still servicable but with several scratch marks to the moulding.
We estimate that these paintings date from the mid to late 1970s. They are good examples of Roy Turlington's work and as such were chosen for the collection of Nottinghamshire County Council, Education Committee. These are two of several paintings we have which were de-accessioned by that local authority and sold at public auction through Bonhams some years ago
